Recruitment

Practise family medicine at Jefferson Medical Centre

Fee-for-service family medicine, no on-call, full clinical independence, and an overhead tier you choose. Here are the actual terms we offer — before you ever get on a call with us.

What you get

What Jefferson Medical Centre provides

Fee-for-service income

You see patients and the clinic bills Manitoba Health through the clinic account. You then receive your share of the collected billings, less the overhead percentage of the tier you choose. There is no salary and no cap on what you earn.

No on-call, ever

There is no after-hours, weekend or on-call obligation in our agreement. Anything you choose to do after hours is voluntary and never becomes an expectation.

Full clinical independence

You retain complete clinical and professional judgment under CPSM standards. The clinic does not direct how you practise medicine.

Immigration support from our side

We use commercially reasonable efforts on the employer-side requirements — including preparing and submitting an LMIA, or supporting an LMIA-exempt pathway where it applies — so you can apply for your work permit.

Letters of support for CPSM

We provide reasonable letters of support and information for your College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba registration process.

A clinical assistant as you grow

Once you are consistently seeing around 40 patients a day for four straight weeks, you can ask us to hire a clinical assistant for your practice, with the cost split 50/50.

Settling in

We help you land, not just arrive

Moving countries is the hard part — so we take as much of it off your plate as we can. Here's the support waiting for you and your family.

A home ready before you land

We work with Laraib Uppal, Broker & Owner of Laraib Realty Inc. in Winnipeg. He guides you through the city, does virtual walkthroughs with you before you fly, advises honestly on neighbourhoods and renting versus buying, and can even receive the keys before you arrive — so your home is ready when you land.

A car in your first few days

We work with Muhammad Faisal, Sales Manager at Auto List of Canada in Winnipeg. He looks after our doctors directly — buying versus leasing, newcomer financing without Canadian credit history, Manitoba Public Insurance, and winter tyres — so your car is sorted within your first few days.

A physician onboarding coordinator

Our onboarding coordinator helps with the practical first-week tasks: getting a SIM card and phone line, opening your bank account, and exchanging your UK driving licence for a Manitoba one — often done the same day.

Schooling and daycare guidance

Local contacts who can advise on schooling options, registering your children, which schools may suit them best, and how to navigate the daycare process and secure a place.

Immigration lawyer on hand

We partner with Dr. Muhammad Abrar of A&M Canadian Immigration Law Corporation in Winnipeg — 20+ years in practice, focused solely on Canadian immigration law, and the office that handles our LMIA and C10 applications. He stays with you for the long term: Manitoba Provincial Nominee paperwork, PR applications, super visas for parents, and study or work permits for family members who may follow later.

EMR training and a buddy physician

Proper onboarding training on our EMR, Accuro, plus a buddy — another family doctor in our clinic group — to sit with, shadow, and go back to with any questions through your first few months.

Immigration partner

Dr. Muhammad Abrar — your immigration lawyer

We work in partnership with A&M Canadian Immigration Law Corporation in Winnipeg. Dr. Abrar, Barrister & Solicitor, has practised law since 2005 — over 20 years — and focuses exclusively on Canadian immigration law. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Glasgow and an LLM and LLB from IIUI, has published with Oxford University Press, and is widely cited for his Manitoba immigration statistical analysis.

His office handles our LMIA and C10 applications, and stays with you afterwards for Manitoba Provincial Nominee paperwork, permanent residence, super visas for parents, and study or work permits for family members who may follow you here.

Dr. Abrar also joins Dr. Ahmed as a guest on the immigration and work-permit episodes of the video series — the same plain-language guidance he gives our recruits, on camera.

Getting your car

Muhammad Faisal — your car contact in Winnipeg

A car is not optional in Winnipeg, and sorting one out in your first week as a newcomer — with no Canadian credit history and no driving record here — is one of the more stressful parts of the move. Faisal is Sales Manager at Auto List of Canada in Winnipeg and looks after our doctors directly, so you can be driving within days of landing.

He walks you through buying versus leasing, newcomer financing without Canadian credit, Manitoba Public Insurance registration, and what you actually need for winter — proper winter tyres, block heaters and all-wheel drive. He speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Arabic, and can start the conversation before you fly.

Faisal also joins Dr. Ahmed as a guest on the car and driving episodes of the video series, covering exactly what a UK doctor should expect to spend and avoid.

Finding your home

Laraib Uppal — your realtor in Winnipeg

Where you live shapes everything else about the move, so we work with Laraib Realty Inc. — a boutique Winnipeg brokerage founded and owned by Laraib Uppal. Before real estate, Laraib studied Electrical and Computer Engineering (Biomedical focus) at the University of Manitoba and spent over five years in engineering, construction and consulting across Canada — so he looks at a house the way an engineer does, not just the way a salesperson does.

Laraib guides our doctors through the city before they ever board a plane: virtual walkthroughs, honest advice on neighbourhoods and commutes to the clinic, renting versus buying as a newcomer, and what a family home actually costs in each part of Winnipeg. He can even receive keys on your behalf so your home is ready when you land. His own words sum up how he works: "My job isn't to sell you a property. My job is to help you make the right decision."

Laraib also joins Dr. Ahmed as a guest on the housing episodes of the video series, covering exactly how a UK doctor should approach finding a home in Winnipeg.

Building your practice

Patients waiting for you from day one

24/7 AI receptionist

Our clinics have a virtual AI receptionist working around the clock — booking, rescheduling and cancelling appointments for your patients. No missed calls, no missed patients, even after the clinic closes.

Simple online booking

Streamlined online booking that takes patients less than a minute, so anyone who wants to see you can get an appointment with you.

Continuous marketing, not just at launch

Our marketing specialist runs continuous marketing for you for as long as you're with us — not just around your arrival. When clinic-run marketing is part of your overhead package, it never stops.

A waiting list before you arrive

We start marketing our doctors around three months before arrival — sometimes longer — to build a waiting list. When you start, patients are already waiting to see you.

Special-interest practice support

Have a special interest — dermatology, women's health, mental health, minor surgery, ENT or anything else? We'll help you set up the service in our clinics, market it to clinics across Winnipeg and Manitoba, build referral pathways, handle incoming referrals, and set up a website for your practice under the clinic group.

Transparent overhead

Choose the tier that fits you

The clinic bills Manitoba Health through the clinic account and pays you your share of collected billings, less the overhead percentage of the tier you choose. The more you take on yourself, the lower the percentage. You can change tier on 30 days' notice, subject to our capacity to adjust support.

"Standard clinic marketing" means general promotion of Jefferson Medical Centre — a website listing and clinic advertising — not marketing dedicated to your individual practice, which is yours to run under the 20% and 18% tiers.

What you bring

Requirements, stated plainly

Licensing and immigration are yours to obtain — we support the employer side and provide the letters, but no clinic can guarantee a CPSM or IRCC outcome. We would rather say that up front.

  • A valid work permit or other legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Membership in good standing with the CMPA, or equivalent professional liability coverage.
  • A minimum of 30 clinical hours per week, on days agreed between us.
  • Your own income tax, CPP and GST/HST obligations as an independent contractor.
  • Compliance with CPSM standards, PHIA and Manitoba billing rules.
